    Understanding the Wi-Fi 7 Difference

    Similar to its predecessors, Wi-Fi 7 introduces an increase in bandwidth. Analogous to cars on a highway, more bandwidth equates to additional lanes for data packets to traverse. While the data packets may not accelerate, the added room allows for reduced interference, congestion, and consequently, faster Wi-Fi network speeds.

    To harness the benefits of Wi-Fi 7, it’s essential to have a Wi-Fi 7 router installed and use gadgets that support Wi-Fi 7. Importantly, devices compatible with Wi-Fi 7 will still function with older Wi-Fi protocols, albeit not at the same performance level. This means there’s no need to replace all home devices simultaneously.

    It’s crucial to note that Wi-Fi 7 won’t enhance the speed of the broadband entering your property; this aspect requires discussion with your internet service provider. However, Wi-Fi 7 ensures that the subscribed internet speeds are accessible to more devices over greater distances. Netgear suggests potential speed boosts of up to 4.8 times across all devices once upgraded, contingent on the Wi-Fi 7 router’s specifications.

    While the transition to Wi-Fi 7 routers and compatible gadgets will take time, those purchasing new devices can now seek Wi-Fi 7 support.
